From expanded buses to folding cameras, bellows have various uses on and off the water. Their primary function is to guard against moisture and particles while remaining flexible. A bellows sits around the shift cable, the U-joints, and the exhaust on boats. Many stern drives include flexible gaskets called “bellows” that seal the water between the boat and the universal joint, shift cable, and exhaust flow. Their flexibility allows the driver to trim and turn while driving, but heat, severe weather, or age can cause them to dry out and crack. Water will flow into the gimbal, the motor, and the boat if the bellows fail. It can result in damage and perhaps submersion. Key Features:
